Informal session in preparations of the Twenty-fourth meeting of the Subsidiary Body on Scientific, Technical and Technological Advice of the CBD (SBSTTA-24)

March 15, 2021

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The informal session in preparation for the 24th meeting of the Subsidiary Body for Scientific, Technical and Technological Advice (SBSTTA) was held online from 17 to 26 March 2021. The informal session did not represent a moment of negotiation or decision-making for the Parties, the purpose of the meeting was to allow Parties and stakeholders present in the role of Observers with a right to intervene to familiarize themselves with the modalities, documentation and process that is underway and will culminate in the 15th meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP 15) to the Convention on Biological Diversity.   Under the following links you can open and download in PDF format the statements made by the Working Group on Agricultural Biodiversity during the informal session of the SBSSTA. At the last link you can find the official letter, addressed to the CBD Secretariat, the Bureau and the Co-Chairs of the Post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework, in which we present some doubts about the effective participation of civil society in the meetings that, due to the pandemic, are held online. In the letter, the IPC Secretariat also requested the possibility to be present as speakers during the next stakeholder open webinar organized by the CBD, which will focus on the key linkages between sustainable agriculture and the transition to sustainable food systems, and linkages to the Post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework. We thank the Secretariat, the Bureau and the Co-Chairs of the Post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework for paying attention to our concerns and for giving us the opportunity to participate as speakers during the stakeholder open webinar on Sustainable Agriculture and Food Systems Transition: Linkages to the Post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework”[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]
